On laws of limb darkening of stars.
Abstract
A method is described which makes it possible to determine the nonlinear limb-darkening parameters for components of the eclipsing binary systems AR Aur, YZ Cas, EK Cep, and EE Peg. It is found that the parameter characterizing the deviation of the observed law from the linear law is determined with insufficient accuracy from the light curves. A list of linear darkening coefficients obtained by the direct method is presented for components of nine eclipsing systems. The observed values agree satisfactorily with those calculated by Rubashevskii from the condition of the conservation of the total stellar radiation flux when the model distribution of brightness on the stellar disks is replaced by the linear law.
