Development of a CCD image sensor, phase 3
Abstract
An array was developed containing 385 x 288 photosensitive elements (385 x 576 elements with standard TV interlace) which is capable of satisfying the requirements applicable primarily to star sensors. An array was designed, fabricated and operated to give a 625 line compatible display. The device is a three level version requiring a three phase drive waveform. With the exception of the channel stop, no single mask dimension smaller than 8 microns is used. Drive circuitry uses a Ferranti ZNA 134 synchronizing pulse generator chip and other transistor-transistor logic packages. Transfer efficiency and dark current results are given with values from on-chip output circuitry, for arrays from several batches.
