An oscillatory mass flowmeter for gas-liquid flows
Abstract
An oscillatory flowmeter (BMP-1) designed to measure the mass flow of gas liquid mixtures without the prior separation of the liquid was developed. The flowmeter consists of a BMP-1 sensing device and a decremeter. The sensing device includes a mechanical pendulum, an output sensor, and a driver unit. The electromagnets of the driver unit receive cyclic signals, when transmitting stops the pendulum freely oscillates in a transverse direction. The fluid whose flow rate is to be measured flows through the central passage of the pendulum, so as to dampen the pendulum oscillations. The coefficient of attenuation of the pendulum oscillations is proportional to the fluid mass flow G which is to be metered. A numerical evaluation of the effect of the structural dimensions of the sensing unit on its output performance is conducted.
