Infrared imaging systems - Operating principles, tests, utilization
Abstract
Following a short description of the operating principles of the various infrared imaging systems, the characteristic measures of these systems are presented; they are mainly related to spatial and thermal resolutions. A test facility is described. The fundamental limit to the thermal resolution set by photon noise is discussed; then the use of these systems for physical measurements, the difficulties and the precautions to be taken are exposed. Various applications are listed.
