47Sc halflife
Abstract
The 47Sc halflife is determined in an indirect way from measurements on 200 pure CaCo 3 samples used as Ca standards in neutron activation analysis. The 47Ti 159.38 keV groundstate transition γ-peak is measured for each sample at about 8 and 18 days after neutron irradiation. The data give a value for the 47Sc halflife of (3.341 ± 0.003) days in agreement with another value from a γ-ray measurement. Halflife values determined with β counting and currently favoured are found to be about 3% higher.
