Transmission test of still-picture broadcasting signals using the medium-scale broadcasting satellite for experimental purpose
Abstract
A broadcasting satellite has been used to determine the transmission characteristics of still-picture signals. Values were found for luminance flicker disturbance, chrominance flicker disturbance, the bit-error rate and the effect of noise disturbance on a picture received by a still-picture receiver. It was found that still-picture broadcasting is compatible with the satellite broadcasting and receiving equipment of standard television systems. At nominal input level, interfield level difference and interfield DG-DP differences do not occur in the still-picture signal. The sound and picture transmission of pulse signals of four values is possible if the tranmission link is limited to the satellite.
