Optical observations of 4U 1626-67.
Abstract
Light pulses were observed from the optical counterpart of 4U 1626-67. The period, period derivative, and phases of the pulses were derived. The light curve of the optical pulses is not a simple sinusoid. The small intrinsic luminosity, the pulse timing observations, and the spectrophotometry are all consistent with 4U 1626-67 being in a short period (Porb less than 0.3 day) binary system with a low mass (Mopt approximately equal to 0.2 Mo) optical companion in an orbit with small inclination not greater than 10 deg.
