Spread-spectrum signal communication over a fading channel - A simulation study
Abstract
The propagation characteristics of a time-varying dispersive channel for a spread-spectrum (SS) signal is studied using a block diagram simulation technique developed around a TDC-316 (ECIL) computer. Measurements of the cross correlation properties of pseudo-noise sequences (PNS) of various lengths propagated through the simulated medium are carried out. The communication capability of the medium is established by transmission of pulse signals, biphase modulating the PNS, through the simulated fading medium. The reproduced signal is in very good agreement with the signal transmitted over a time invariant path with a fixed delay.
