Study of Xi-core transverse-flux plate levitator
Abstract
An experimental and analytical study of a Xi-core transverse-flux plate levitator is described. A finite-difference approach based on magnetic vector potential is employed, utilizing an 'infinite' boundary technique. The experimental results confirm the accuracy of the method. Results are shown for the power input per unit vertical force. It is shown that increasing the 'goodness' factor can have a deleterious effect on stability.
