Design of S.A.W. convolver for processing M.S.K. modulated waveforms
Abstract
The paper describes the design of an acoustic waveguide convolver for the matched filtering of MSK modulated sequences of about 1000 chirps with a chirp period of 10.8 ns and a processing gain of about 30 dB; the device efficiency is -63.5 dBm. The high efficiency is compromised against frequency band limiting, which, however, reduces the effective processing gain by less than 0.4 dB. It appears feasible to double the processing capacity of this design without severe degradation of performance.
