Boundary layer growth on two separated cylinders in an unsteady plane flow
Abstract
The analysis deals with the two-dimensional unsteady viscous flow past two concentric circular cylinders, parallel to their center line. The flow is homogeneous, incompressible and is governed by the Navier-Stokes equations. The singular perturbation method is applied to the determination of the velocity profiles, the onset of boundary layer separation, and the hydrodynamic force acting on one of the cylinders, at high Reynolds and Strouhal numbers.
