A Comment on the Character of the Photospheric Granular Net
Abstract
On the basis of the statistics of the number of elements immediately neighbouring on randomly selected granules, the degree of similarity of the real photospheric granular structure with a purely hexagonal structure has been determined. It was found that these two types of structures differ to a considerable extent, although a certain 'quasi-hexagonalization' of the granular structure can be observed; this is expressed by a relatively expressive maximum in the distribution of the occurrence frequency of the number of neighbouring elements.
