Performance of PN Spread-Spectrum Systems in the presence of linear distortion and synchronization errors
Abstract
The effect of linear distortion and synchronization errors on a PN (Pseudonoise) Spread Spectrum System (also known as DS (Direct Sequence) or PH (Phase Hopping) System) is investigated. In particular, the influence of bandlimiting by transmitter and receiver filters and of multipath propagation on the signal to noise ratio of the demodulated signal is calculated. The results show that the criteria usually applied to detect synchronism of transmitter and receiver sequences do not provide optimum performance under all circumstances.
