Optical isolator for semiconductor lasers
Abstract
The paper reports results of an experimental study of an optical isolator for semiconductor lasers. The isolator consisting of a polarizer and quarterwave plate was assembled in a compact laser-to-fiber coupling module. The study showed forward loss of 1.15 dB, backward loss of 24.8 dB, and rotative tolerance of 2.4 deg for 1 dB down. The extinction ratio was improved by 6.75 dB. The suppression effect on the influence of reflected light was also investigated.
