Further analysis of the B2Sigma/plus/-X2Sigma/plus/ system of the YO molecule
Abstract
The B-X system of the YO molecule has been reinvestigated. A rotational analysis is reported for seven new emission bands, and accurate rotational constants are obtained in both states, mainly from a simultaneous multiband fitting. This procedure is applied to the whole set of 1500 observed line wavenumbers in the 0-0, 0-1, 0-2, 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 bands; a final rms of the deviations of 0.023 per cm is obtained. The results may be of interest in identifying the features observed in the spectra of S-type stars and also in investigating the presence of YO in sunspots on the basis of a greater number of rotational lines.
