Charge transfer of multiply charged ions with hydrogen and helium Landau-Zener calculations
Abstract
Estimates are presented of the rate coefficients for several astrophysically important multiply charged ionic systems undergoing charge transfer recombination with atomic hydrogen and helium at thermal energies, and for some potentially significant reverse ionization reactions. Quantal calculations are analyzed to develop procedures for estimating the collision parameters, and the Landau-Zener approximation is used to compute the rate coefficients. The emission lines produced in the decay of the reaction products are identified.
