Fine structure in the northern extension of the Magellanic Stream
Abstract
High resolution, high sensitivity observations of selected regions of the northern extension of the Magellanic Stream show considerably more detail than previously reported. Velocity-antenna temperature contours are presented, along with maps of the surface density of H I in various regions. It is suggested that, due to the complexity of the distribution of gas in both position and velocity, detailed theoretical interpretations of the Magellanic Stream may be somewhat premature.
