Analytical theory of steady CO laser
Abstract
Starting from basic governing equations for vibrational-distribution function and radiative intensities, the gain-saturation relation of a steady CO laser is deduced. The general case in which both homogeneous and inhomogeneous broadening exist simultaneously for the radiative transition is considered. The effects of multilevel cascade emission are elucidated. For two special cases of two-level emission and homogeneous broadening limit, the results are in agreement with the theories presented in Lacina (1971) and Napartovits et al. (1977), respectively.
