Rapidly rotating alpha-squared dynamo models
Abstract
Numerical calculations for a special alpha-squared dynamo model are presented based on an alpha-tensor, a separation of the eigenvalues, and the restrictive assumption that only turbulence models with correlation tensors, linear in g, are considered. Attention is given to the formulation of the model and to solving the dynamo equation by using Raedler's formalism as well as a modified version of his computing technique. Results show that the nonlinear rotation term provides a negative (nonaxisymmetric) dynamo solution. A diagram representing the extremely rapid vs. slow rotation of the eigenvalue is presented together with the principal shapes of the poloidal and toroidal magnetic mode components.
