A stellar wind model for Herbig-Haro objects
Abstract
A stellar wind model for Herbig-Haro (HH) objects is proposed. The stationary flow pattern around a star which blows off a strong stellar wind and is located at the edge of a dense cloud is analysed. The results of the model for some sets of parameters are presented and discussed in relation with their observational counterpart. Many of the properties of HH-objects can then be explained in a natural way. The model is able to reconcile the reflection hypothesis for HH-objects with a stellar wind origin for the observed spectral, morphological and kinematic characteristics. Pressure changes in the ambient material before stationary configuration is reached will determine whether a bright spot will appear in that part of the nebula with lowest density.
