On flows with heat addition in Laval nozzles
Abstract
In the present paper, the method of singularities is applied to a qualitative analysis of steady Laval nozzle flows. By omitting the use of the concept of effective cross section, it becomes possible to describe flows for any given nozzle and any given heat input. It is shown that even the simplest type of heat input leads to a flow with three sonic transitions that corresponds to an effective nozzle with three contractions.
