Finding relevance in numerical turbomachinery analysis
Abstract
The use of numerical techniques in turbomachinery design is reviewed. The turbomachinery development process is characterized with reference to its phases: conceptualizing, preliminary optimization, detailed design, experimental evaluation, and manufacturing. Numerical techniques, classified as design worthy and research worthy, are examined for mathematical and physical accuracy. An example of numerical turbomachinery analysis is presented.
