Mass spectrometry in chemical kinetics
Abstract
Applications of mass spectrometry to chemical kinetics studies are reviewed with reference to two research areas: reactions involving atoms and free radicals and ion-molecule reactions. Various mass spectrometry techniques are discussed, including pulsed radiolysis, photoionization, and the use of monochromatic electrons, as well as the combination of mass spectrometry with photochemistry. Elementary chemical reactions investigated by mass spectrometry of free radicals are listed.
