Experimental results on the packet satellite network
Abstract
This paper presents results of various experimental activities of SATNET, an experimental packet-switched satellite network for voice and data. A 64 kb/s satellite channel is used in the experiment and shared by three ground stations in a multi-access mode. Performance of various access methods have been investigated experimentally, supported by simulations and theoretical calculations. In addition, measurements are performed at host level, related to the performance of host-level communications protocols and to packetized speech.
