Millimeter PIN diode control devices
Abstract
Work carried out on millimeter wave PIN diode control devices is reported. Circuit techniques that were developed to overcome the problem of stray parasitics limiting the performance of high frequency components are addressed. The components described operate in the reverse tuned mode in which low loss is achieved when the diode is forward biased and isolation is achieved when the diode is reverse biased. Packaged PIN diodes were used for frequencies up to 38 GHz and unpackaged devices for frequencies up to 79 GHz.
