Experiment modules and facilities in TEXUS 1 and 2
Abstract
Four experiment modules, called TEM, were developed for the TEXUS 1 launch. This experiment equipment has been the basis for further experiment modules. The modular concept provides an opportunity to refurbish the apparatus after flight and to modify the experiment equipment in order to adapt it to new experiments. The basic modules contain a multipurpose furnace, a furnace with the possibility for observation, a module for observation of boundary layer convection with Schlieren optics, and a module for electrolysis experiments. An overview of the performance of the modules is given and adaptability for different experiments is shown.
