GEOS-2: Early orbit phase operations, volume 2
Abstract
The official record of GEOS-2 early orbit operations, which began with lift-off at 10.43 GMT on July 14, 1978 and continued until routine phase was declared at 18.00 GMT on August 2, 1978 is presented. The conduct of the spacecraft and ground systems during launch phase, transfer orbit, and the near-synchronous orbit phase is reported in detail and the performance of on-board subsystems is briefly summarized. Once the spacecraft had been checked out and placed on geo-stationary position, the experiment switch-ON sequence was carried out, thus completing the early orbit phase of the mission. The GEOS-2 graphs of all essential S/C parameters are presented as a function of time.
