Blanket module design for breeding tests in TFTR
Abstract
A blanket module used for installation, operation, and removal without interfering with TFTR normal functions demonstrated that breeding tests in TFTR are feasible. The reference tritium breeding test module uses a lattice of 500 zircaloy-clad lithium oxide rods oriented radially to the reactor centerline and placed in a triangular array within a 304 stainless steel structural shell; the front, rear, and top panels are electrically insulated from the side and bottom panels to reduce eddy currents and mechanical loads during plasma transients.
