Cluster test facility construction and its future perspective
Abstract
The cluster test facility, in which a model toroidal coil, called a test module coil, can be tested for fusion research, is now being constructed in JAERI. The stored energy of a pair of cluster test coil is 20 MJ. This paper describes the facility system, the coil characteristics, the vacuum system, the liquefier/refrigerator and instrumentation. The design concept of the first test module coil is described. The coil, of which fabrication will be started in the near future, is designed with Nb3Sn conductor for the purpose of 10T experience. The upgrading of the facility, in order to test a 12T test module coil, is investigated.
