Computer based development and design - Structure optimization

It is noted that the use of electronic data processing calculation methods in the development and construction branches of research and industry is expanding increasingly. Attention is given to the Finite Element Method which has widened range of applications of Computer Aided Design. Discussion also covers a review of structural optimization methods, structural optimization using mathematical optimization methods, as well as optimum criteria methods. Finally, attention is given to electronic computer programs for the optimisation of structures.
