Explosive generation of magnetic fields in an inhomogeneous plasma
Abstract
It is shown analytically that application of intense radiation to a plasma with an initial magnetic field gives rise to an explosive nonlinear generation of magnetic fields. The initial stage of generation of an intense quasi-static magnetic field in a plasma is analyzed, and an equation for the characteristic time of the process is derived. The distribution and peak value of the magnetic field are determined.
