On the performance of a simplified MTI canceller selection rule for FUCAS
Abstract
A rainclutter suppression system implemented into the experimental phased array pulse radar system FUCAS is described. The optimal selection rule (under the assumption of a Rayleigh target) is derived and, since the actual realization of this rule would be too costly, a simplified selection mechanism based solely on the clutter suppression capabilities of the cancellers is introduced and its expected performance compared with the optimal rule.
