Planetary magnetospheres.
Abstract
The present review deals with space probe and radio-emission data on such parameters as the dimensions of the sun and planets, the radii of the orbits of their satellites, and the characteristic dimensions of their magnetospheres - defined as the planetocentric distance to the subsolar stagnation point of the solar wind. The magnetospheric dimensions of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, and Jupiter are based on spaceprobe data. Those for Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are based on scaling relations (for which some supporting radio emission data are available).
