Characteristics of radiation pattern simulation for limited laser beams
Abstract
Characteristics of radiation pattern simulation are discussed for laser beams propagating through beam-limiting lenses. The following assumptions are made: (1) the beam-limiting lenses are infinitely thin, (2) irradiation is strictly monochromatic, and (3) environmental effects on beam propagation are negligible. The study results show that variations of the boundary between near and far fields should be taken into consideration for radiation pattern simulation in the focal plane of the beam limiting lens. The influence of the radius of wavefront curvature of laser beams with predetermined differential divergence on divergence should be also taken into account.
