Amplitude dispersion of standing electron plasma waves
Abstract
Nonlinear corrections to the linear dispersion relation for plasma waves are calculated from the macroscopic equations by means of a multiple-time scale expansion. For standing waves a nonvanishing frequency shift is obtained in the long-wavelength limit when a second-order steady-state ion density modulation is included.
