Calculation of vibrational populations in a gas mixture excited by electron impact - Application to CO2 lasers
Abstract
Effective cross section published in the literature are used to calculate the electron energy distribution function in CO2-CO-N2-He mixtures on the basis of the Boltzmann equation. These calculations are then employed to compute rates of energy transfer from electrons to molecules for typical discharge conditions in CO2 laser mixtures; populations of principal levels are determined. Theoretical results agree well with experimental data.
