Design and evaluation of decentralized filters for large scale interconnected systems
Abstract
The design decentralized filters for large scale interconnected systems is considered. Decentralized filters, two different information patterns, are evaluated using matrix maximum principle. Two filters having specific structures which allow information exchange to occur over noisy channels are studied. An approximate aggregation method for obtaining approximate reduced order representation for the interaction processes of large scale interconnected systems is introduced. A filter which trades off some of the performance for a lower filter order is designed using the interaction model and its performance is evaluated. The algorithms are illustrated via an application to dynamic state estimation for multiarea power system models.
