Volumetric pattern prediction of antennas on aircraft using the geometrical theory of diffraction
Abstract
The patterns of small dipoles or slot antennas mounted on the fuselage of an aircraft are computed in the high frequency case. For the computation of the field the geometrical theory of diffraction is used. A very versatile and realistic mathematical aircraft mode is developed. The construction of all rays which contribute considerably to the total field is a complicated numerical problem. Via the solution of this ray tracing problem it is possible to obtain arbitrary pattern cuts.
