Stable gas laser with 0.4-Hz line width
Abstract
Experiments were carried out with He-Ne lasers at a wavelength of 3.39 microns with internal methane absorption cells. The laser frequency is stabilized through the absorption resonance at the methane F2(2) line by an automatic frequency control system. An output line 0.4 Hz wide was obtained with excellent frequency stability (10 to the -13th to 10 to the -14th per 0.001-0.1 sec).
