Possible cancellation of optical inhomogeneities in a laser
Abstract
The use of parametric frequency conversion for self-cancellation of wavefront aberrations in an Nd-glass laser has been investigated experimentally. A lithium iodate crystal was employed as the parametric converter. It is determined that self-cancellation of optical inhomogeneities in the amplifier actually occurred, and the results obtained are shown to be extremely promising.
