Equilibrium and stability of an incompressible fluid drop
Abstract
Equilibrium and stability of an axisymmetric drop in contact with a volume of incompressible fluid bounded by a flat free surface are investigated. The equilibrium differential equations were solved by the Runge-Kutta method. In the stability analysis, perturbations changing the volume of the drop were taken into account. Stability conditions are obtained, and results are applied to a method of determining surface tension.
