Radiometric and visual contrasts of oil slicks on the ocean surface
Abstract
The paper examines the effect spectral sensitivity characteristics of the radiation detectors on brightness contrast between an oil slick and pure sea water; cases of radiometric measurement and visual perception of the oil slick are considered. The method developed here can be applied to any procedure for detecting and evaluating oil slick thicknesses.
