Investigation of the Elenovka chondrite (petrography and mineralogy).
Abstract
A microscopic investigation of the Elenovka chondrite is presented. The X-ray and microsonde analyses of separate mineral phases and the chemical composition are described, and detailed descriptions of chondrule type structures and compositions are given. The mineralogical composition of the meteorite including olivine, rhombic pyroxene, and plagioclase are determined, showing that while augite was identified in the diffractogram of the pyroxene-plagioclase fraction, it was not found by the microscopic analysis. It is concluded that the Elenovka chondrite recrystallized and also underwent an impact effect of the olivine-hypersthene type L5 chondrite.
