HB13: a radio galaxy with interesting jets.
Abstract
New 151-MHz observations of the radio source HB13 reveal structure with a total angular extent of 35 arcmin. This source has also been mapped at 1419 MHz with the Half-Mile telescope and at 2.7 GHz with the 5-km telescope. It is identified with the galaxy VV10-15-99. The estimated size of HB13 is 2 Mpc and it is very similar in structure to 3C31, although it possesses an outer region whose surface brightness and energy density are lower than those of any region detected in 3C31. The southern region of the source contains several bends which are not mirrored in the north, suggesting that motions of the parent galaxy have not been the dominant factor in determining the shape of the source.
