Differential amplifier for microwave range
Abstract
The paper presents a method for the design of microwave differential amplifiers that is based on the scattering matrix. The differential amplifier is regarded as an active four-port network with a plane of symmetry, and it is assumed that the reference impedances of the various inputs maintain this symmetry. A given state of the system is decomposed into the superposition of an even mode and an odd mode. One determines that coupling impedance that provides best rejection of the even mode. A general stability and adaptation analysis is performed.
