Wideband elements of phased-array antennas
Abstract
Theoretical and experimental data are used to show that a microwave element based on two connected hybrid transformers exhibits a number of useful features such as identical output impedances, grounding of all outputs, identical frequency characteristics in matching and isolation, and a possibility of obtaining practically any coupling coefficient from zero to infinity by varying the transformation ratio over a small finite range. Various types of such devices are described, including directional couples, phase shifters, phase hybrids, and directional filters.
