Étude de la persistance de quelques paramètres de qualité de l'eau
Abstract
From 1967 to 1975 the water-quality service of the Quebec Department of Natural Resources collected some 16,000 water samples at 250 stations: in 1975 the number of stations in operation had been reduced to 66 and a weekly sampling schedule had been adoptéd. Despite of these improvements, the data obtained cannot be analysed by such classical and sophisticated methods as spectral analysis. In order to make use of these data some less sophisticated, although adequate methods, have been considered in this study. in this way the persistence of several parameters (major ions, silica, nitrate, phosphate) has been studied by analysing the autocorrelation of weekly and monthly series of data and by considering their information content. This technique, based on the analysis of historical data will indicate the optimal sampling frequencies relative to the types of parameters as well as the hydrographical regions under investigation.
