Present Position and Future of the Ariane Programme
Abstract
The paper surveys the current status of the ESA's Ariane program. The development program is covered noting the dynamic tests of the launcher held between mid 1976 and mid 1977, and electrical system tests which began in April 1977 and ended in November 1978. Also reported are a series of ten cluster tests, G1 to G10, an M1 firing, and two long-duration firings of the third stage. Finally, planned launches are discussed, including the satellites to be launched, the Amsat and Firewheel, Meteosat-F2 and Marecs-A.
