Precursor of solar flare effects in LF and HF bands
Abstract
Sudden ionospheric disturbances (SID) observed in LF and HF bands exhibit the long-duration absorption of a signal (LAS) superimposed on the main effect. The LAS starts earlier than the main effect as a precursor and may serve to predict such SID events. A connection of the precursor with flare X-rays in 1-8 and 8-20-A wavelengths is shown.
