On CO2 /10.6 micron/ atmospheric propagation enhancement - Study of atmospheric bleaching and thermal blooming
Abstract
Theoretical study is done of the reduction in CO2 absorption and the reduction in thermal blooming as laser field bleaches its way into the atmosphere. The vertical atmospheric transmission at wavelength = 10.6 micron through the atmosphere corresponding to tropical, midlatitude summer and midlatitude winter atmospheric conditions, and for different initial altitudes, have been calculated under the assumption that the CO2 absorption vertical profile can be represented by an exponential up to a certain altitude, followed by an almost constant value.
